Silicone Renders For Sheffield
Silicone renders are probably the most popular render system we offer due to their unique properties over other types of renders. They are breathable, flexible, hydrophobic, and self-cleaning
Breathability means if moisture builds up behind the substrate then it will still be able to escape. Where as if your render was not breathable, the moisture would stay behind the render and potentially cause damage to your walls and render.
Silicone Render is extremely waterproof, helping moisture be carried away from the property When water builds up on the surface, and the droplet is heavy enough to run down, it will take dirt with it , meaning it is also self-cleaning
External Wall Insulation Render System For Sheffield and Yorkshire (EWI)
What is External Wall Insulation?
External wall insulation (EWI) is a type of insulation which are attached to the exterior of your property walls. The EWI system is made up of two layers of material, the first layeris the insulation and the exterior layer is the silicone thin coat system made up of a 6mm basecoat followed by a silicone top coat render. This serves a dual purpose of a decorative finish, as well as protecting the property wall against the weather.
The installation of EWI means that it will add about 90mm to your property. However, this is determined by the thickness of the insulation used. The main materials employed in EWI are usually EPS (expanded polystyrene), mineral wool or phenolic boards; EPS being the most popular choice of material. EWI prevents heat from escaping via walls by acting as a barrier which is fixed to the exterior walls in several layers.

Monocouche renders are modern single coat renders which can be applied by hand or machine. Colour pigmented throughout, meaning no building painting, monocouche renders provide a low maintenance, weather resistant, hard wearing and attractive finish to a large range of external brick and blockwork properties.
How we apply
Like normal rendering mix, monocouche render also comes in bags, ready to mix with water before applying to the external walls. You can spray it on or use a hand trowel. Depending on the humidity and other weather conditions, it takes between five and thirty-six hours for the complete drying of monocouche render.
A single layer of monocouche renders is applied in two passes. It is essential to achieve smoothness in the first pass to apply the second. The mixture has been of correct workable consistency to have easy spreading.

Render Applications
Which is the best, Spray Render or Traditional Render?
As a customer choosing between the traditional approach or spray render, it can be a little difficult to decide. Mainly because most people have not heard of machine spray rendering. Let’s talk you through the main differences between the two to help you choose which is best for you.
Application
Traditionally, render is applied to external walls in a similar fashion to plaster. Applying it in multiple coats the render is pressed to the wall to make sure that it sticks. Then it is evened out to make it smooth and level.
Spray render is applied by spraying it on with a specialist machine. It is far quicker than the traditional render and it does not need to be pressed
Duration
Spray render dries more quickly as well as being applied more quickly. Furthermore, spray render allows you to apply thin layers that do not need so much time left between the application of different coats. In fact, some spray renders are completed in one coat, but the traditional render takes multiple coats.
Overall, the spray render is much more cost effective because of the faster application and shorter drying time. This means you pay less as the contractors are onsite for a shorter period of time.
Coverage Comparison
Sprayed render can also be applied in thin coats to cover textured walls such as pebbledash. This retains the style of the wall but at the same time makes it weather resistant.
It will also have the long lasting durability of a sprayed render finish. It saves you the cost of having the pebbledash removed if it is beyond repair.
The finish is 100% uniform across your walls which is very accurate and level.
Overall Performance
Traditional render is limited to using the more traditional type of materials e.g. cement, sand and limestone. Spray render in contrast uses silicone and acrylic, both of which give more protection, durability and flexibility of application.
Spray render delivers a superior performance over traditional render and has excellent thermal performance because cork adds to the insulation of a property. Cork is sourced sustainably from the bark of trees without chopping them down.
Overall, spray render is a much better choice to traditional render for most domestic and commercial properties. It lasts longer, the application is much faster and it means your property is disrupted for less time. Also, spray render can also be applied on top of traditional render to enhance it.
